Kia

After taking a few Pilates and Yoga classes in 2001 in the effort of trying to lose weight for her wedding, Kia realized that both exercise had so much more to offer. The total body conditioning program of Pilates, and the physical and mental discipline of Yoga, had much more to offer her mind, body, and spirit. Yoga offered her a sense of peace and enlightenment, while Pilates helped her to reconnect with her body. After just a few sessions, she began to notice a heighten awareness in her body, as well as improved posture, strength, and flexibility. Not to mention the toned abs, arms, thighs and buttocks. As Kia grew eager to learn more, she began self-studying and practicing Pilates and Yoga daily. She was so excited that she started to share her new passion with her friends and family by holding neighborhood group and private classes. Pilates and Yoga became an intricate part of her life. In 2005, she received her Certification in Pilates Mat and continues to study daily. Her BS in Human Services certainly helps her to relate to others and empathize with the task of trying to improve health and create balance in life.

One-on-one and small group classes are her favorite classes because it allows for an intimate practice making it easier to tone into what her students may need at that present time. Kia also likes to emphasize how to incorporate Pilates and Yoga into everyday life.
